Search + Display

Being found online in 2013 is no longer as easy as it was 10, 5 or even 2 years ago. Competition is fierce and every business sector is over-saturated. Techniques that once worked to enhance your business’ online visibility now have little to no bearing on how successful you will be online because results cannot be guaranteed. Reliance on Google to rank you is no longer an option if you wish to have long term success online, and we must instead look to other areas for customers.

What remains unchanged is the philosophy of customer acquisition. You must ‘speak’ to your clients in a way that engages them. Then, and only then, will they be compelled to act on the call to action you want from them. This can be a phone call, an email enquiry, an opt in or to purchase something. Ultimately your website needs to take your clients or potential customers by the hand and gently guide them to perform your desired call to action.

Successfully being found online can be boiled down to one thing; Traffic. If you place your website where the traffic (or your ideal clients) is, you have a much better chance of converting browsers to buyers and maintaining any sort of longevity in the online space. You must engage, listen to and act on what your customer’s habits and interactions with your website indicate.

A website should be ever evolving. Without evolution, it will simply stagnate and be as useful as a billboard in the Sahara Desert.

Development

Website’s are a necessity in today’s business. Unless you are a bricks and mortar establishment, and have been in the same place for the last 40 years and have a loyal and local client base, you’re not going to attract many new customers without a website.

During the birthing throes of the internet, way back when Seinfeld was just getting started on TV and grunge was, well actually new, websites cost as much as a house in a lowly part of a first-world country. Now, 20-odd years later, there are numerous free solutions you can utilise to give yourself a basic web presence. Platforms like WordPress, Wix and Weebly all allow a business owner to own their very own cyber window.

But, what actually is a website and what is it’s purpose?
